3 Energy Saving Things New Homeowners Can do to Save Money That You Didn't Know

Updated: Apr 14, 2023

One of the biggest costs involved with living in your home is going to be your power usage, and one of the biggest hogs of energy resources you have is your air and heating units. Fortunately, there are a few actions you can take to ensure you’re not spending more money than you need to!

Want to start saving money as soon as you move into your new home? Start considering these three money-saving tips the day you move in. You won’t regret it!

Change the air filter.

This is an easy, cheap fix that could save you a ton of money. Find out what kind of air filter your furnace takes, head to your local home improvement store, and grab the one you need. Switch them out, and you’ll save your furnace from having to work harder due to a dirty filter!

Clean the vents.

Along the same line as changing your air filter, make things easier for your furnace by immediately cleaning out the vents. This will ensure that you’re not spending more than you have to on your air and heating bill by keeping airflow as efficient as possible.

Install ceiling fans.

Ceiling fans might seem a little expensive at the outset, but they’re actually a fairly inexpensive way to save yourself a lot of money. Have them installed in most rooms in your home, and the inexpensive airflow allows you to keep your thermostat a few degrees higher in the summer, and a few degrees lower in the winter.

It doesn’t have to be expensive to stay warm! Keep these tips in mind, and you’ll be comfy in your new home, and saving money while you do it. Have you got any other energy saving tips that I missed? Post it in the comments!
